Should I Choose a Brown or Black Leather Jacket?

Should I Choose a Brown or Black Leather Jacket?

So, you’re in the market for a new leather jacket? Being that leather is our specialty, you’ve come to the right place! But now you’re faced with the task of choosing a style and color. While leather jackets are available in a wide variety of colors, the two most popular are black and brown.

You really can’t go wrong with either a brown or black leather jacket, assuming it’s genuine leather and made with a high level of craftsmanship.  However, your choice of color will directly impact the way in which you wear it. This begs the question: should you choose a brown or black leather jacket?

What’s Your Preferred Choice of Footwear?

Consider your shoes and footwear when choosing a leather jacket. If you normally wear brown boots during the fall and winter months, then perhaps a similar brown-colored leather jacket would be the best choice. On the other hand, if you normally wear black shoes, then you should choose a black-colored leather jacket. A good rule of thumb is to match your jacket with your shoes, in which case your leather jacket should be the same color (or at least similar) as your shoes.

Black is More Formal…

Some people may argue otherwise, but many fashion experts view black as being a more formal color than brown. It possesses a newer, more modern appearance that’s not found in brown. Therefore, a black leather jacket is the preferred choice for formal events. If you’re looking for an everyday jacket, however, a traditional brown leather jacket may suffice.

‘Rugged’ Brown Look

Of course, many men and women prefer the rugged, outdoors look of a brown leather jacket. There’s just something unique associated with brown leather jackets that makes them an excellent choice for the outdoors.

Get Both!

Can’t seem to choose between a brown or black leather jacket? Rather than restricting yourself to a single color, why not get both? There are occasions during which a brown leather jacket will look the best, but there are other times when black is the better choice. Having both colors at your disposal, will ensure that you are able to stay fashionable (and comfortable), regardless of the occasion.

The truth is that you can’t go wrong with either a brown or black leather jacket. As long as you choose a color that matches your style, you’ll have no problem putting together the perfect outfit.
